Thanks to you,Kathy Feng,my friend and I had a most successful and wonderful tour of some of the major
attractions of your large and beautiful country .
It was a bonus to actually speak to you ,on the phone,in Beijing .Again, a thoughtful and caring gesture,and we were sorry that you were a flu victim at that time.I'm happy to say that we both remained in excellent health for the duration of the tour and just as well,too,as it would have been tragic to have missed all or part ,of any day.
Your guides have been well chosen.They are welcoming,caring,and knowledgeable.We also enjoyed their senses of humour and thus every day was a happy one.I would have to say that our first guide,Frank,was an excellent ambassador for China...very proud of his homeland, extremely fluent and confident when communicating in English,an enviable vocabulary,and able to answer our many questions.We also noted that Frank and his driver
worked as an effective team.
The drivers and the vehicles were excellent,and always, the cold bottled water was much appreciated.
As for the food...we ate Chinese food every day and plenty of it ,and we even steered clear of Western menus
even when the choice was up to us .
Our hotels were also,well selected for us.Good job,again,Kathy.Welcoming reception staff,polite and thoughtful staff
as a whole,and so very cheerful and helpful.Our rooms were always attractive,well appointed,with plentiful amenities and modern equipment such as TVs,safes,etc.And the chefs were supberb ! All in all,hotels and service ,as fine as one could hope to find anywhere in the World,today.Only one exception and I'm sure Jan will mention this.
Since returning to New Zealand,I am continually asked to identify the 'Highlight' of our tour.I am bound to admit
that ,for me, it is a very difficult question to answer .Every day was extraordinary,interesting,amazing and memorable.
There was so much to observe and learn and to wonder at.My only disappointment was the cancellation of the visit to The Children's Palace in Shanghai.Unfortunately it was a holiday and unfortunately I had eagerly anticipated this particular opportunity.
I have to say that our trip to China was the best trip of my life and I feel so fortunate to have had such a wonderful
experience.
