Andrew is now feeling much better; his problem turned out to be a sodium deficiency caused by the diuretic in his blood pressure pills.  He also had developed a very painful shoulder (lifting suit cases?) and has had a cortisone injection for that.  Let's hope he continues to improve.

Please let me assure you that none of the things I have told you about could in any way spoil the tour for me.  It was wonderful, and anyway I'm too old to let things worry me!  Do not apologise  any more.

Re Michael in Shanghai:  He is an excellent guide, a very good interpreter, most courteous and punctual, and we enjoyed his company.  The shortened day tour could perhaps have been sorted out if we had not been "caught on the hop" to use a colloquial term.  We didn't realise the day's sightseeing was over until we drew up at the hotel  and by then it was too late for us to organise our thoughts and plans.  When we asked if that was the end for the day he told us that we had seen everything on the list.  Just a misunderstanding I think.

I hope you are not getting all the heavy rain they have in the south of China; we are now moving into winter with frosty nights but mild sunny days.
